Sunday, March 11 Discussion

It has been several weeks since I posted a discussion question. We spent a little time on Sunday discussing how doubt strengthens faith. We obviously don't go looking for opportunities to doubt, but if we face doubt when it arises, I think the class agreed, our faith is strengthened. I wondered if the picture of a spider's web (web of life if you will) might help us think about how doubt can work with faith to benefit our life with Christ. What if one of the ribs (spokes from the center) was removed? How would that impact the strength of the web? Maybe it takes doubt for all of the ribs to be present. Roger Johnson also brought up the idea that webs are elastic. Does doubt in our life make us less brittle and more flexible? Are there other ways this metaphor might help us understand the relationship of doubt to faith? Click the comment link below to share your ideas.
